I haven’t posted as much over the past couple of months, primary been busy with entering the “adult world” after graduating college and settling into my new job and new routines. However, I am trying to get back into the swing of making new posts.
I want to start with a quick life update, back at the beginning of August I officially moved to Dalton. I found a really nice apartment that was within my budget, and so I decided to jump on it and move in.
It was bittersweet moving out of my family home where I lived for the past 22 years of my life, and I will miss it. Living on my own will definitely not be the same.
I will say it was was a tough decision to leave Pittsfield, where I lived all my life and where I’ve been very involved politically over the past few years. I always thought I would stay in Pittsfield for several years after I graduated. However the rental market looked much better outside of Pittsfield in places such as Dalton from a price and safety perspective.
Additionally, the more I thought about it running for local office in Pittsfield didn’t fit into my life plans at the moment. I don’t feel ready to dive back in, run a campaign, and all that is involved in running for and serving in elected office. It’s a lot to take on and I’m just not ready to do it all again.
Though I’m still planning keep an eye on Pittsfield politics here and there too, given that I’m just over the city line and still have a lot of insight on the inner workings of Pittsfield politics, along with a lot of strong feelings about the direction the City is going in. I have some blog post ideas to discuss my thoughts about Pittsfield politics, as well as some other blog posts ideas about other local and state political issues. I’m hoping to get those posts out over the next few weeks or so. Stay tuned!
